Welcome to the deepest part of my (sometimes) shallow mind. Here you will experience some of my most profound thoughts and revelations. You will also occasionally think that you are experiencing the ramblings of a barely coherent human being. You will be subjected to moments of genius, as well as examples of utter idiocy. Either way, it should be entertaining. Thanks for visiting!!!

2011 in review…

Quite the year I had, huh? 2011 was a year of change for me. I know a lot of people are saying good riddance to this year but I have to tell you that overall it was one of the best years I have experienced, at least in my adult life. I know that I am a year older than I was on December 31, 2010 but I feel at least 10 years younger. I have changed so much in this past year. Physically my body has changed more this year than it has in a long time. (Probably since I was in the womb if I am being real.) I went from feeling like a 60 year old man with aches and pains all over his body, to feeling like a 21 year old kid ready to conquer the world! I have a new lease on life. I can honestly say that I plan on being around for MANY years to come. Believe it or not, that is something that I used to doubt. It is an amazing feeling, too. I want to be around. For my beautiful wife – who loved me when I was at my lowest and deserves to experience my highest with me! For my family – who have supported me and put up with years and years of my bullshit! For my unbelievably loyal friends – who are there for me whenever I need them! And for ME – because I have put myself through hell for so long, my body deserved a break from the abuse.

I have also changed mentally. All year I have been working hard and felt more motivated than I ever have as I inch closer to my first college degree. The feeling of accomplishment I get at the end of every semester is awesome. I am excited about the prospect of starting a new career doing something that I enjoy (hopefully I can make that happen in 2012) and I am excited about the fact that at least I still have a decent paying job. I am also happy that I got back to performing in front of people. I am and will always be an entertainer at heart. Look for announcements on Facebook of where you can catch me performing live with Priceless Entertainment in 2012.

In the coming year, me and Lisa hope to start a family of our own. We have accomplished many things together but this will hopefully be the biggest. I am not sure I have ever wanted something more in my entire life. I’d like to think that I will be a great father, but you never know till you try, right?

The Detroit Tigers took us for a wild ride this summer. I thoroughly enjoyed following them all the way to the American League Championship Series. How great was it to watch Justin Verlander’s MVP season? In 2011 Brady Hoke helped restore sanity to Ann Arbor by righting the Michigan football ship. 10-2 his first season with a team that was predicted by most to do no better than 7-5. And just when you thought everything was back to normal, Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions happened! 10-5 so far this season and our first playoff appearance in over a decade. As amazing as that feels, it is nothing compared to the bright future ahead of these guys and the football fans in metro Detroit. Thank you Martin Mayhew, Tom Lewand, and Jim Schwartz. We really needed this. We have suffered long enough.

The world lost many talented people in 2011. I personally lost a few of my favorite childhood entertainers. Rest in Peace to Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Nate Dogg, and Heavy D. Thanks for the memories. There were many more that passed, too many to name in fact, but they will all be missed.

Well I have gone on long enough, so I will leave you with this: Everyone have a SAFE and ENJOYABLE New Year’s Eve tonight, but if you are going out then party your asses off! After all, the Mayan’s predict this is our last chance to party for NYE! (If you believe that, I have a goose that shit’s out golden eggs for sale!) I would like to wish everyone the absolute best year they can possibly have in 2012! Here’s hoping 2012 will be the best year yet!

Cheers,

Ron

What a weekend!?!?!?!

It was 11:55 am on Saturday November 19, 2011. I was sitting at the world-famous Te Roma in Center Line, MI. Tobe and Bubba were with me and we were getting ready to watch Michigan play Nebraska in football. At that very moment I had no idea how that weekend would unfold. Michigan then proceeded to completely trounce the Nebraska Cornhuskers by a final score of 45-17. We had faith that our boys could pull off a win, but NOBODY saw that coming. Needless to say, the weekend started off with promise…

I figured it would slow up after that since I knew that I had a long day of homework still ahead of me. I dropped Bubba off at home and headed back to the palatial estate we commonly refer to as the “Bear Cave” (that’s a whole other story, fit for another day) to start working on this homework assignment. The plan was to later meet up with Tobe and Steiny at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch UFC 139. Problem was I struggled with the homework. So I decided to watch the fights at home while I attempted to finish the assignment. After reading the match list for the card I figured it would be a pretty good night of fights. Well once again I was shocked at the way things worked out. This was one of the best fight cards I have ever witnessed. Urijah Faber showed the dominance that the fans expect out of him, dismantling Brian Bowles and earning a rubber match with Dominic Cruz. In the co-main event, one of my all-time favorite fighters, Wanderlei ‘The Axe Murderer’ Silva showed the world that he still has some gas left in the tank by stopping the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Cung Le in impressive fashion. And finally, Dan Henderson and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua put on an instant classic. 5 rounds of hold your breathe battling that had every fan on the edge of their seat with their muscles tensed up for 25 minutes. Quite possibly the best mixed martial arts fight of all time. Unbelievable! Dan Henderson won by unanimous decision and earned himself a title shot at age 41.

I forgot to mention that the Red Wings beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Saturday. Well They also beat the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Sunday by a score of 4-2. All of these things combined would make for a great sports weekend in my world. All of this and I haven’t even mentioned the Lions yet.

Ugh… Same ol’ Lions. It is something that has been said around here for years. This year has been different. This team has shown signs of vast improvement and the metro Detroit area is buzzing over the possibility of a playoff football team. So I go over to my family’s house to watch the Lions play the Carolina Panthers with my dad and my brother. The game starts. We get the ball and Matt Stafford throws an interception. We get a quick turnover and Stafford throws another interception. Carolina (2-7 record at the time) starts to pour it on us. We were losing 10-0 after the first quarter and 27-14 at halftime. This was the first time all season I was actually thinking that we were witnessing S.O.L. (same ol’ Lions) all over again. Well something happened at halftime because they came out and lambasted the Panthers in the second half. Led by Stafford’s 5 touchdown passes and the returning Kevin Smith’s 140 yards rushing, the Lions won convincingly by a final of 49-35. Great weekend that wasn’t quite over.

Later on that evening, I went to Steiny’s house to watch WWE Survivor Series. Now I am not the wrestling fan that I used to be (I have UFC to blame for that) but it was a pretty decent show. I did get to see the in-ring return of one of my all-time favorite wrestlers – The Rock. So when I went to bed that night, I felt fulfilled in my love of sports and entertainment. BUT, this particular weekend got extended to include Monday afternoon.

Congrats to Justin Verlander who became the first pitcher to be named the AL MVP since Dennis Eckersley won it in 1992. This was announced Monday afternoon. Then the University of Michigan basketball team beat the #8 Memphis Tigers in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.

Needless to say, it has been a great few days in my world! For a man, it doesn’t get much better than this…
